Would a Capsule Hotel Suit You? Think About Bags, Noise and Bathing
Photographs of capsule hotels draw attention to neat rows of beds. Before booking, ask a more useful question: does the sequence of storing bags, getting ready and going to sleep fit your night?

The bed is only one part of the stay
A capsule is not an ordinary private hotel room. Lockers and shared facilities are separate from the sleeping space, so getting clothes or brushing your teeth involves moving around. If you want to unpack and spend time in a room, that difference matters.
Look at the actual showers, bathing areas, washbasins and changing arrangements. Do not picture a ryokan bath simply because a capsule hotel lists bathing facilities.

Work out where the suitcase will go
| Before booking | Nine Hours example |
|---|---|
| Luggage | Oversized bags normally go to reception; Narita Airport instead directs guests to the airport storage service. |
| Locker | Check dimensions on the page for your particular branch. |
| Shower and bath | Showers are described; check the specific property listing if you want a bathtub. |
| Cleaning | Capsules cannot be used during 11:00–15:00 cleaning, or 10:00–14:00 at Narita Airport, including on consecutive stays. |
| After checkout | No luggage storage after checkout; arrange a station locker or another service. |
These are Nine Hours examples, not rules shared by every capsule hotel.
The photographs show Nine Hours’ Narita Airport branch. Its airport-storage arrangement in the table matters if you have a suitcase that will not fit in a locker.
The same FAQ says bags are not stored after check-out. That may be irrelevant if leaving immediately, but a sightseeing day needs another plan, such as a locker or luggage-storage service.
A daytime rest depends on cleaning arrangements
The official FAQ says the cleaning closure also applies to multi-night stays. Use a lounge where available or go out; fit any daytime rest around your branch’s hours in the table.
Check which overnight amenities are included
Nine Hours’ FAQ lists rental bath and face towels, rental loungewear and slippers as free, with earplugs available on request. Toothbrushes, shavers and a four-piece skincare set are listed as paid amenities. Shower areas have shampoo, conditioner and body soap.
That is one operator’s provision, not a promise for every capsule hotel. Before packing your overnight bag, check the particular property’s list and bring the personal items you prefer rather than assuming they will all be included.
Choose for your sleep and the following morning
If nearby sounds disturb you, or two people want to spend time in the same room, a conventional private room may fit better. An enclosed-looking pod does not imply the same quiet or use as a private hotel room.
For an early departure, put overnight essentials in a small bag before bed, avoiding repeated suitcase unpacking in shared areas. Fit check-in, luggage, bathing and cleaning arrangements into your actual day before deciding.
